Spur Extension and Unloading

North Shore Track Services was the low bidder on this rail spur extension project and was awarded the contract. North Shore Track’s scope of work for construction was extensive. Over the course of this project, NST constructed five new tracks consisting of over 26,000 feet, six new switches and relocated 700 feet of existing trackage.

Project construction also included the following:

• Clearing and grubbing of 2 acres of land
• 10,000 cubic yards of excavation earthwork

Installation of:

•    22,000 square yards of geotextile fabric
•    12,500 cubic yards of  sand subbase
•    5,000 cubic yards of gravel subballast
•    12,000 tons of track ballast
•    3,500 track ties and 400 switch ties
•    15,800 feet of 115# rail
•    3 track derails
•    120 feet of road crossing surfaces
•    600 linear feet of concrete culvert pipe
